aa-tomo TODAY is an online magazine operated by Art & Wellbeing aa-tomo, a project of the National Center for Art Research and Tokyo University of the Arts.
The Art & Wellbeing aa-tomo project started in 2023 as a part of the “JST COI-NEXT Arts-based Communication Platform for Co-creation to Build a Convivial Society” program where Tokyo University of Arts takes a key role in as a hub, and 39 organizations across industries, governments, and academia such as universities, museums including National Museum of Art, local governments, and private organizations are collaborating.
We at aa-tomo are creating new accessible spaces that combine museum collections and local cultural resources with new technology. These spaces will be centers of communication, utilizing arts as a key tool, and collaborating with municipal governments, and medical and welfare fields. Through our activities, we aim to realize societies where everybody can live with dignity, and fewer people experience loneliness or social isolation.
On aa-tomo TODAY, we will share the work we do to tackle social challenges. We aim for this magazine to serve as a space for broad communication about our initiatives that harness the power of art and cultural activities, engage in collective thinking from various perspectives, and co-create a more positive future for everyone.
